About Us
When I arrived in Canada from the Old Country I did not have many material goods. What I did bring with me was infinately more valuable, a special gift my mama and papa gave me. That gift will be passed down to my children and grandchildren.
That gift is the steadfast belief that in life, success comes from hard work and always striving to be your best.
I dedicate this special story to my wonderful Original Spaghetti House Pizzeria customers and their families who share our commitment to excellence.

The Original Spaghetti House Pizzeria
One of the first things I wanted to do when I came to Peterborough was to experience the local Italian restaurants and try their food. The first restaurant we went to was Jim’s Pizzeria, right across the road from where we were renting an apartment. I had pizza, and my an acquaintance had pasta and salad. I was very impressed with the meal…everything was very good.
The next day we went to East Side Mario’s and experienced another good meal of chicken parmesan and fettuccini. That evening when we arrived back at our apartment we started talking about the possibility of opening our own restaurant. An acquaintance believed we could prepare better pizza, pasta and other authentic Italian dishes with my mama’s family recipes. Myself, I wanted to put their idea to the test and the very next day planned to prepare a meal for some friends. We prepared pasta dishes, sauces, chicken parmesan, caesar dressing using my mama’s recipes. Everybody raved as to how good the food was. The taste…the smell….the flavor…the presentation…it was simply fabulous.
We decided to buy a small restaurant on Clonsilla Avenue in Peterborough and start preparing authentic Italian dishes using mama’s recipes for the people of Peterborough to enjoy. After 2 years of hard work we expanded the restaurant to 140 seats. In 2007 we sold the business and the family recipes. The new owners never used my mama’s recipes and within six months the restaurant was closed. For more than a year after the closing of the restaurant, former customers were coming up to me and asking me to open another “Spaghetti House” restaurant.
In December 2009 we decided to take over the Halibut House restaurant on the corner of George Street and Lansdowne Street. After months of renovations we opened “The Original Spaghetti House Pizzeria”. From the day our doors opened we were welcomed into the neighborhood. It was so nice to see our old customers coming back and telling us how much they missed our great food and terrific service. Just recently we have expanded into Cobourg.
